Music, Friends, & Fluffy Pillows

Can someone please explain to me how it's Tuesday already? It seriously feels like I just finished doing my normal Friday afternoon countdown to start the weekend. I guess that's what happens when you have a lot of fun on your two days off. Or better yet, when you're sat in a vehicle for the majority of them!

Newfoundland's largest annual outdoor concert, the Salmon Festival, was this weekend and, for the last three years, me and Todd always made sure that the concert was both added and then scratched off our summer to do list. With him not being home this year paired with a five hour highway drive each way, and having no place to stay other than a big grassy field where you feel like you need security guards watching over your tent, it looked like I wasn't going to be making it at all this year.

But, when you find out that your best friends boyfriend is also going to be away the same time, and when you both fluke into getting a last minute hotel room cancellation, it's kind of hard to pass up, especially when you know you'll be staring at Adam Levine for a few hours.

So, bright and early Saturday morning, with coffees and road tunes in tow, off the two of us went. With just a few bathroom stops along the way (teeny tiny bladder over here), we were checked into our hotel by late afternoon and then "quickly" got ready to meet two friends at the concert. The quotations marks are necessary because that word does not exist when the two of us try and do anything together. You wanna know what else slows you down? Having a bathroom mirror with such horrible lighting that causes you both to laugh so hard to the point of tears when you see each others makeup in natural daylight. Back to the room we had to go to do some minor (aka non clown-like) adjustments. It was bad. Real bad. But also really really funny!

Jon Pardy (winner) and Neda Kalantar from Big Brother Canada.
Neither drink ticket in my hand! ;)

The concert was awesome and Pitbull and Maroon 5 were both soooo good at keeping the crowds energy level way up the entire night. I think we were still dancing around at the very last song! And the most heavenly thing of all was having a bed and a fluffy pillow to rest my head on at the end of the night, unlike every other year when I've slept on the ground and been awoken to strangers trying to get in our tent thinking (very strongly, might I add) that it was theirs. Oh, and I can't forget about the pizza that was pretty much waiting for us when we got back to our room.

If there are more great bands, hotel rooms and pizzas involved again next year, sign me up!! Key word: hotel room!

I hope you all had a great weekend and a great holiday for those of you who celebrated the 4th of July. I seriously feel like it's going to take me a little while to recover from this weekend....even with fluffy pillows and all! Oh how times have changed! ;)

  2. SO jealous you went to Salmon Fest!!! Everyone always finds it funny that this Caper has never been to NL because the ferry is literally right in my parents back yard. One day I'll venture across :) Glad you had fun!

  3. I've never heard of Salmon Fest - sounds like a blast! I went to the Craven Jamboree in SK for 6 years straight and then woke up one day and realized I'm too damn old to sleep in a tent for 5 days straight with no electricity or hot water!
