Friday Five

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope this week has been treating you good. At the beginning of this week I finally felt like I was getting over the cold I had from the previous week and then my voice decided to completely leave me. I'm happy to report that today it's finally feeling like it's coming back. Thank goodness! I didn't realize how much I enjoyed talking until I could barely talk at all. Todd, on the other hand, may not be so happy that my voice is returning!

Today I'm back to do a Friday five post - a post where I l share five things about anything from the week (or any time, really). As simple as it actually is, it's been so long since I've done one of these posts I had to take a second to remember how to do them. With that said, I guess I'll just jump right in and get to it.

ONE
I recently made an appointment with The Landells Clinic because I haven't been very impressed with my skin lately (actually, for a while now). Just as I expected, I didn't leave with the warm and fuzzies about how great my skin was (damn you, wonderful sun!!). During my consultations, the three things that were recommended for me were: skin care products (with SPF being a big one), IPL treatments, and Botox. I left with an IPL treatment booked for the end of the month and some new AlumierMD products. I've never done IPL before so I'm excited to have my first session and report back on that. While I'm definitely fascinated about Botox, I left that one to think about some more.

As for the products, I splurged and bought this kit that includes a cleanser, moisturizer, lightening lotion, retinol, and sunscreen. I also bought this Vitamin C serum that was recommended. It was quite the haul but I figured if I was doing it, I might as well go for it, right? My morning and nighttime routines are much longer now, but I'm loving actually having a routine and having products specifically picked out for me, instead of throwing random things on my face from Sephora and just hoping for the best. I'm hopeful and excited to see some improvements!

TWO
This week I've been continuing to listen to two of my favorite podcasts - Drama Queens (Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill) and Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen (Kristin Cavallari and Stephen Colletti from Laguna Beach). As someone who was literally (yes, I'm using that word correctly) obsessed with One Tree Hill and who was a huge fan of Laguna Beach, make no wonder why in 2023 I am loving these podcasts - it takes me right back to the early to mid 2000's.

THREE
I purchased the NYX Butter Gloss in Crème Brulee this week for the millionth time. No matter how many colored lip glosses I use, or how many new ones I continue to try, I still always catch myself grabbing for this one. I just really like the color and consistency (it feels great on your lips and it isn't sticky at all), and you can not beat the price! Perfection! Well, the only downside is that I find myself constantly reapplying it throughout the day as it doesn't last very long on your lips.

FOUR
While the Aquis Microfiber Hair Wrap isn't a new purchase (Todd, eh, I mean Santa gave it to me for Christmas), I was reminded this morning while using it that I should mention it. Have you tried one before? This is the first microfiber hair wrap I've used, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I do really like this one and will always use this instead of a normal body towel for my hair now. It does help absorb water better, but what I like most about it is the fit and how it feels on your head. I will say that the first few weeks I was using it, I couldn't understand what all of the fuss was about. Turns out, I was using it wrong, and what's funny is that it's really easy to use. Tip - the button should be at the back of your neck so when you twist your hair in the towel like you normally would, the elastic loop goes around the button. Now that I have that figured out, game changer!! HA!

FIVE
Last weekend we went to our friends cabin Saturday night and then went snowmobiling on Sunday. There were 10 of us in total and it was so fun going with a big group. It's been two years since I've been on a skidoo, so I was really happy we got to do that before the winter is over (which, unfortunately, seems to be taking forever). We had such a great day, even despite the panicked-adventure me and Todd had towards the end of the day. Long story short - it was getting late and we had an hour and a half drive ahead of us back home that evening so we had to separate from the group and head back out ourselves. Well, we didn't know the trails very good and between getting stuck and lost multiple times, we had quite the time getting back to the cabin that evening, with only an hour of daylight to spare!

This weekend we have no big plans so I’m going to take advantage of tackling some organization in our house. Both our spare room and downstairs storage room has become a dumping ground, but I’m determined to get one of these rooms crossed off the to-do list this weekend. Depending on our schedule, every week or every couple of weeks, myself and Todd have been trying to take a section of the house and get it nice and organized. It definitely makes me feel better when things aren’t in chaos.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Until next time.
